Paper Masks

  1. Is not efficient in preventing droplet to go in since it does not contain a filter layer

Surgical Masks

  1. Inner layer: fluid barrier to catch droplets from users
  2. Outer layer: water resistant to block droplets from the environment
  3. Affordable
  4. Fits loosely and easier to breathe in
  5. The number is limited, thus be wise in using this type of mask

  2. A washing machine should suffice in properly washing a face covering

N95 Masks

  1. Denser filter and able to prevent ~95% of particles sized 0.3 microns and below
  2. Able to prevent aerosols (airborne-transmitted disease). Medical procedures, such as bronchoscopy and tracheal intubation may generate aerosol. Thus, this type of mask should be used by medical professionals during these procedures. In this current situation, it is not advisable to be used by general public
  3. Harder to breathe in

N95 Masks

  1. Denser filter and able to prevent ~95% of particles sized 0.3 microns and below

Pitta Masks

  1. Used to filter out dust and pollen
  2. Is not useful in this situation

How to put on & Use the Masks

Perform Hand Hygiene

Check for holes/tears in mask

The nose clip is positioned on top

Check the side of the mask

Pinch the nose clip to take the shape of the nose.

Ensure nose,mouth & chin are covered

How to take off the Masks

Remove the elastic loops/ threads behind the ears, without touching face or clothes

Discard the mask in a bin
